All 37 councillors of Donegal County Council have answered a call from Mica homeowners in a crucial week for the campaign.
With hours to go before the Dáil votes on amendments for the Defective Blocks Bill, the Mica Action Group said it has gained assurance from local representatives that they would put their people before their party at crunch time.
The homeowner representative group put a written question to all elected councillors at the weekend to determine their allegiances, asking: do you stand by your people or do you stand by your party?
Councillors were given a deadline of 5pm Tuesday to respond, after which a poster would be published of their faces and their responses.
The Mica Action Group last night unveiled a poster of 37 councillors and 37 markers indicating they all voiced a willingness to ‘stand by their people’.
The group has expressed disappointment with Minister Charlie McConalogue and Fine Gael’s Joe McHugh after a Dáil vote yesterday, in which the opposition lost their vote calling for a nine hour scrutiny of the Defective Blocks Bill, rather than the two hour allocation.
