The price of home heating oil across Donegal has hit a record high.
A price comparison of some fuel suppliers in the county shows that it is now the most expensive time to heat a home than ever before.
According to www.cheapestoil.ie, Swilly Fuels is coming in at one of the cheapest at €1,389 per 1,000 litres.
Whoriskey Oil is asking €1,470 for 1,000 litres, A&N Fuels are charging €1,459 while O’Donnell Fuels is slightly cheaper at €1,395 for the same amount.
Last year, the average price of 1000 litres of heating oil was €700.
However, many distributors are now facing a supply issue.
The increase in home-heating oils comes hand-in-hand with the spike in petrol and diesel costs which have now reached €2.15 a litre in many outlets across the county.
