An informal event was held at the weekend to mark the end of the Colmcille 1500 celebrations.

The event was held jointly by Donegal County Council and Derry City & Strabane District Council at the Colmcille Heritage Centre in Gartan, Colmcille’s birthplace.

A short souvenir publication was launched and historian and Colmcille expert Dr. Brian Lacey shared some reflections of the past year as a very fitting wrapping up of the programme.

The event was also attended by Deirdre Harte, Donegal County Council, Joseph Gallagher, Heritage Officer of Donegal County Council, Aeidin McCarter, Derry City & Strabane District Council, Dr. Brian Lacey, Eileen Burgess, Donegal County Council, Cllr. Donal Mandy Kelly, Letterkenny Mayor, Rev. Andrew Forester, Church of Ireland Bishop Derry and Raphoe and Fiona Fagan, Churches Trust.
