Hill walkers have been asked to be mindful of unpredictable weather before they set out.
The appeal was issued by the volunteer Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) after their latest mission.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team was tasked to assist in locating a missing walker on Horn Head. Sea fog had enveloped the area very quickly and visibility was greatly decreased.
An Garda Siochana arrived on scene, located the lost walker and led them back to their vehicle. DMRT were then stood down after 3pm.
“Even in summer months, weather both inland and on coastal areas can be unpredictable,” a DMRT spokesperson explained.
“This is something to be mindful of, even in pleasant weather. Be safe as you enjoy our beautiful county.”
