Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has warned we could be seeing the start of a Covid “summer wave” as the number of people hospitalised with the virus rises over 300.
ICU cases are also up, with 24 patients in intensive care.
The number of Covid-19 cases at Letterkenny University Hospital doubled in the first 10 days of June, from 7 on the 1st to 15 last night. One patient with Covid-19 was reported in ICU at LUH on Thursday.
Minister Varadkar has warned that Covid-19 immunity is waning “for sure”.
He took to Twitter to urge people to ensure they are up to date on their vaccines.
“Please get your booster if you haven’t,” he said.
