The Friends of Lifford Hospital have said they are “very positive” after a meeting with the HSE over future plans for the hospital.
There have been concerns over the possible downgrading of the facility for many years.
However the committee of FLH expressed satisfaction after the meeting which was held yesterday at The Old Courthouse in the Diamond Lifford.
Indeed there are suggestions that a completely new hospital on a green field site may be on the cards.
A spokesperson said “The HSE discussed their proposed plans with respect to the retention of a Hospital in Lifford and all of the necessary services there. Indeed the possibility of extra services being included in the future was also touched upon.
“It was a very positive meeting and our committee would like to thank the HSE for their comprehansive presentation. The committee gave their full support and commitment to the proposed plan of action.”
The spokesperson stressed that this plan is in it’s infancy and they hope to expedite it by getting full support from the public and all elected political representatives.
They added “We will keep you informed of further developments. The committee hope to hold a public meeting in the near future to inform and take questions from the public.
“We would like to thank you all for your unwavering support throughout the past years.”
