Passengers that arrive to Dublin Airport too early for their flights this Bank Holiday weekend will be put in designated holding areas to avoid further travel disruption.
DAA chief Dalton Philips is expected to tell the Transport Committee today that Dublin Airport has a plan in place to deal with the significant numbers of people due to travel through the airport over the coming days.
It is believed approximately 1,400 people missed their flights last weekend due to long security queues and the new system is being implemented to avoid the same happening again on an even busier weekend.
The advice to passengers that are flying out of Dublin Airport over the coming period is to arrive at the airport at least two-and-a-half hours before the departure of short-haul flights to Europe and the UK, and at least three-and-a-half hours for long-haul flights.
Passengers that arrive too early for their flights will be asked to wait in a dedicated passenger holding area with special consideration being given to those passengers who require special assistance and those Important Flyers travelling with autism.
Departing passengers will be required to provide documentation indicating the time of their flight such as a booking confirmation or boarding card, in order to access to the appropriate terminals.
