Cruinniú na nÓg, the annual day of free creativity for children and young people, will be taking place on Saturday, 11th of June.
The event, which is organised locally by Donegal County Council’s Culture Division, aims to provide children and young people with free creative opportunities for making and doing.
This year, Donegal will become a hive of creativity for children and young people at locations across the county, both online and at home.
Donegal Town will come alive with youthful creativity between 1pm and 5pm in an event that collaborates with local businesses, groups and attractions, transforming them into playful places for the whole family.
Moville Tidy Towns are hosting a fun afternoon full of treasure hunts and creative activities at Moville Green.
A beach clean, which will take place at Port Arthur Beach on the 8th of June will culminate in a junk art workshop with sanitised rubbish found during the clean at Magheroarty Community Centre on the 11th of June.
There are events for Donegal’s youngest citizen such as ‘Read, Make, Play’, for ages 0-4 at Central Library, Letterkenny, a special theatrical performance ‘Still Here’ for 3-6 year olds at An Grianán Theatre and the Sensory Room at Spraoi agus Spórt, Carndonagh, will be available for family bookings.

Garageland Galaxyz, a new and exciting nationwide festival for young musicians aged 12-18 will visit the Regional Cultural Centre. With 8 live stages and all over Ireland and a giant online multicast, featuring hundreds of young artists, special guests and music industry workshops, it is an opportunity for young artists from Donegal to showcase their talents.
Speaking on behalf of the Culture and Creativity Team, Donegal Culture Division Manager with Donegal County Council, Eileen Burgess, said: “We are delighted to return to physical events this year after a long break. Connectivity is an essential part of creativity. We have worked hard to bring events to as many locations as possible throughout the county.
“Again in 2022, we consulted the children and young people of Donegal, asking them what they would like to see, make, do or try this Cruinniíú and as a result baking, STEM, art, dancing and music events will be taking place across the county.”
Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme at the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and is presented in partnership with RTÉ and the Local Authorities.
