Dublin Airport has warned some passengers may miss their flight due to ‘significant queues’ for airline check-in, bag drop and security screening.
In a tweet, it said passengers queuing outside the terminal may need to contact their airline to rebook.
Around 50,000 passengers are expected to depart the airport over the course of the day.
In a statement, airport operator DAA said queuing outside Terminal 1 has been deployed since early morning as part of the airport’s contingency plans for the increased numbers of passengers travelling.
The DAA added that it is working to ensure queuing times are minimal for all passengers, but anyone travelling from Dublin Airport today is advised to allow additional time.
It said Dublin Airport “apologises unreservedly to passengers for the delays encountered this morning”.
