The Butt Drama Circle’s award winning play, An Incident with Dave Cotter, returns to the Balor Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
The production has won four qualifying festivals, lifting 21 awards, on the way to qualifying for the All Ireland Drama Finals in Athlone.
Set against the backdrop of Bloody Sunday it has been receiving great reviews from audiences and critics alike.
“At the moment, the main thing is to keep the show’s energy up and to maintain our high production values. We are having a few warm up performances with a schools’ matinee also planned which should keep us on our toes,” said writer and director Shaun Byrne.
“We have two finals coming up, The Ulster Final in The Braid Theatre in Ballymena, and the All Ireland in the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone, so at the moment it’s all hands on deck.”
Christopher Quinn, who plays Fiachra, added that the play was testament to the quality of the shows the club has been producing since lockdown ended.
“A few nights before our own show, we also have a Gala night for our All Ireland One Act Winners and their production of ‘In other words’ that tackles the difficult area of dementia. All in all it’s going to be a busy few weeks for us all.”
Both shows open at 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday night at the Balor Theatre.
Bookings can be made at the Balor Box Office on 074 9131840, or by logging on to www.balorartscentre.com
