Children and parents in Stranorlar have welcomed the news that a popular local playground is to get a complete overhaul.
Donegal County Council is to start work on the Railway Road playground (pictured above) tomorrow (Wed).
The overhaul will include the removal of damaged playground equipment and have it replaced with new playground equipment.
The work is being carried out by SFMCE Ltd and the playground will be closed for 6-7 weeks to allow the works to be carried out.
Notices were erected at the entrance to the playground on 14th April to advise the public about the temporary closure.
Local county councillor Patrick McGowan has welcomed the upgrade which he has campaigned for.
“There has been concern expressed recently about the lack of suitable equipment and the poor condition of some of the equipment.
“I’m delighted new equipment will be installed,” said Cllr McGowan .
