Two walkers were brought to safety after becoming lost on Muckish mountain yesterday.
Donegal Mountain Rescue Team were in action on Monday afternoon after the hikers became lost on steep ground on the mountain. One had also sustained a lower leg injury.
DMRT was tasked by An Garda Síochána to the area at 15:45. The rescue crew was able to determine the walkers’ location, make their way to them, and safely take them back to their vehicle.
“The walk back to the vehicles was over steep and difficult terrain, and required ropes at one point,” a spokesperson said.
The team was stood down and returned to base at 22:05.
Donegal Mountain Rescue Team is comprised completely of volunteers who are on 24 hour call, 365 days of the year.
