One of the county’s top hotels has just been placed on the market, Donegal Daily can reveal.
Established in 1838, the popular 49-bedroom Nesbitt Arms is situated in the centre of the busy tourist town of Ardara and is a major employer there.
Joint selling agents, the local McCahill and McNelis and Dublin-based Lisney, have not disclosed the asking price.
“The hotel which is a Failte Ireland 3-star and has been totally refurbished in recent times, offers a lot of charm and is currently family owned,” they stated.
They describe the hotel as consisting of a strategically positioned imposing treble fronted four storey building.
It comes with substantial extensions to the rear, all extending to approximately 2,280 m sq (25,000 sq ft) comprising a well appointed guest reception area with managers office behind, the Ramblers Bar and restaurant, ladies and gents toilet accommodation, Weavers Function Room, fully fitted and equipped kitchen and all requisite storage and service facilities on the ground floor.
The first-floor accommodation houses a Conal Haughey meeting room, Dining Room, ladies and gentlemens toilets accommodation and 13 guest en- suite bedrooms.
The second and third floors overhead house 18 guest en suite bedrooms each.
The basement area at the rear houses the plant room.
