Kerryanne Brown scored the only goal of the game as three Donegal girls started for the Ireland under-19s side who defeated Russia.
Buncrana woman Emma Doherty, who recently signed with the new Sligo Rovers Women’s team and Inishowen native Erin McLaughlin, who plays with Peamount United, also started in the friendly match.
Brown, a native of Greencastle, who plays for Sion Swifts in the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership, scored in the first-half and her strike was the only thing that separated the two sides at full-time.
It is one of two games in which Ireland are facing Russia in at the Emirhan Sports Centre in Antalya, Turkey, as the squad prepares for their UEFA WU19 European Championship Round 2 games in April.
Ireland will take on Czech Republic, France and Greece in an effort to qualify for this summer’s tournament so any good work done in Turkey will surely benefit them for those crucial games.
Ireland will face Russia again on Monday, 21st February.
