On Friday the NoPlaceLike Home YSI team at Loreto Secondary School Letterkenny organised a Mica student stance demonstration.
Their project is centred around raising awareness for the campaign and supporting affected students and families.
“We are doing this to highlight the plight that Mica has caused to families, staff and students in our school and in so many others around the country,” a spokesperson for the team said.
Due to the pandemic, no members of the public were in attendance.
However, you can still virtually stand with the team by going onto their Instagram and facebook pages @noplacelikehomeysi
Members of the Mica Action Group, TD’s, YSI captains and affected students gave speeches on the day.
The team posts regularly on their @noplacelikehomeysi social media accounts to encourage affected families to keep going.
“We will also be posting a song on our platforms that one of our YSI students has written and produced, called ‘No Place Like Home’,” the spokesperson added.
“This is a song that speaks about how we are all united in this fight and how no one is alone. We know the effects are devastating and we just want to spread awareness and have something to inspire us. We think that a group of young people can really show how important this is and that it affects everyone. We hope that it’s uplifting and that everyone affected feels like they are not alone. The song will be out soon on our social media.”
