Donegal Gardaí have urged caution ahead to today’s forecast high winds.
Met Éireann has issued a Yellow wind warning for the county and said west to northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 60km/h with gusts of 90 to 100km/h.
The warning comes into effect at 11am this morning and is valid until 4pm.
Local Gardaí urged people to ensure that all items such as trampolines and wheelie bins are secured in advance.
“Leave extra time for any journeys, drive slowly and keep an eye out for fallen trees and debris on the roads and contact Gardaí should you come across any such obstructions,” the spokesperson said.
Winds will be stronger near coastal areas, where localised wave overtopping is possible, the national forecaster added.
