Donegal’s Covid-19 rate has fallen to the lowest in the country, new data reveals.
A total of 2,622 new cases of the virus were reported in the county last week – almost half the previous week.
The 7-day incidence rate between 23rd January to 29th January fell to 1647.1 per 100,000.
The latest Health Protection Surveillance Centre report shows that the incidence rate in Donegal has dropped from the sixth-highest (2576.8 per 100,000) to the lowest in one week. The median age of people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Donegal last week was 36.
The Department of Health today confirmed a further 12,875 new cases of Covid-19 nationwide.
As of 8am today, 610 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of whom 63 are in ICU. This is the lowest figure of 2022 so far.
The number of patients with Covid-19 in Letterkenny University Hospital is down to 10. Two patients with confirmed Covid-19 are receiving ICU care, it was reported last night.
