TG4 have defended their coverage of yeterdays Donegal game after terrible weather caused the camera lens to be blurred for the majority of the game
Due to almost relentless rain, water droplets were constantly falling on the cameras, and once they were wiped, the same thing would happen again.
This led to fans on twitter messaging the broadcasters , voicing their complaints, causing the official GAA Beo account to respond by tweeting:
They then showed a video of the set-up the camera person was working in, which led to many giving out about the lack of facilities at some Gaelic grounds.
One saying: “Every county ground should have a sheltered area for a camera crew, its madness in this country given the amount of rain we get here. It took away from the game today.”
Another fan said: “While I admire the endeavour of the cameraman working in such poor weather conditions, it is very unprofessional of TG4 not to provide a rain cover for both the man and the equipment. This lead to very poor picture quality for the viewers of this popular GAA sports programme.”
TG4’s sports presenter Micheál Ó Domhnaill then defended the camera workers from both the Donegal game, and the Tyrone game in Omagh.
He said: “No other broadcaster would have been able to do a better job in the conditions. As part of the GAA Beo team we did everything we could to provide entertainment – as we do every Sunday.
“And even as we’re drying off the equipment – not to mention ourselves – we’re looking forward already to getting out next weekend for the next round of matches. Gach rath, go raibh maith agaibh as é seo a léamh.”
