Buncrana Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle yesterday evening as it had been observed travelling in excess of the 100 kph speed limit.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the driver after they were detected driving at 128 kph in the Newtowncunningham area.
The notice will carry a fine of €80 and three penalty points.
“The weather has been very windy over the past couple of days and another status yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal between 2pm tomorrow, Sunday,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Please drive with care if out and about on the roads. Drive slowly and ensure that you are in a position to stop suddenly and safely when necessary. Watch out for fallen trees and/or debris on the road and as always, be on the lookout for pedestrians and cyclists.”
