Covid-19: 9,938 new cases confirmed in Ireland

ANOTHER 9,938 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by Irish health officials today.

The figure includes 5,265 PCR-confirmed cases, as well as 4,673 positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal.

The Department of Health says that there are now 708 Covid-19 patients in hospitals, of whom 71 are in ICU.

The number of Covid-19 patients in Letterkenny University Hospital has decreased to 15.

As of 8pm last night, the hospital recorded 15 patients with Covid-19, including one patient with the virus in ICU.

Donegal’s weekly incidence rate has increased the third week of 2022.

With 4,102 new cases confirmed in the week up to 22nd January, the seven-day incidence rate in Donegal is now 2576.8 per 100,000 – up from 1971.2 in the previous week. Donegal has Ireland’s sixth highest incidence rate of Covid-19 per county.
