A group of young environmentalists from Donegal Town are on a mission to save marine life with a unique project.
Twenty Transition Year students from the Abbey Vocation School have launched the ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ campaign to educate people on all of the issues our pollution is causing to marine and ocean life. The students are taking action to teach everyone how we can rewind and fix the damage we have caused. Their efforts were inspired by the pollution they saw on their local Donegal Town Pier as well the pollution in their nearest fishing port in Killybegs.
They said: “Our group hopes to bring about awareness on how people can reduce their carbon footprint and in particular reduce the amount of pollution that is entering into our seas and oceans damaging marine life. Inspired by David Attenborough, “The ocean’s power of regeneration is remarkable – if we just offer it the chance”. We have this choice and together we can make this change.”
