A speeding driver tested positive for both cocaine and cannabis yesterday.

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit stopped the driver who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

The driver is also believed to have been uninsured as they were the holder of a learner permit that was issued outside of this jurisdiction. Court proceedings will follow.

“Please be advised that if you are the holder of a Provisional driving licence/learner permit, that they are only valid for use within the jurisdiction in which they were issued,” a garda spokesperson said.
