Letterkenny Cycling Club is mourning the loss of much-loved club member, Gerard (Gerry) O’ Donnell.
Mr O’Donnell, of Hazelwood Drive, and formally of Cavan, passed suddenly on Thursday last.
He is mourned by a wide circle of friends, family and colleagues.
Tributes this week remember a true gentleman, a good friend, a professional and a devoted husband and father.
Gerry, who moved to Letterkenny as a young man and worked in finance, was also the club treasurer of the Letterkenny Cycling Club and has been described as “the life and soul of the club and one of its greatest supporters”.
Paying tribute to Gerry, LCC club chairman, Sean McCrudden said, “we have lost our dear friend Gerry, a true gentleman who had a kind word for everyone and was a joy to be with”.
A tribute from Declan Doherty, PRO, said: “Gerry was one of the most positive, happy and engaging men I have ever had the good fortune to know. If he wasn’t already smiling when you met him, he would have the sign of one on the corners of his mouth.”
Gerry’s wife Fiona (nee Melly) and daughter Niamh are being comforted by family, neighbours and friends at this time.
