Adam McCaffrey is now released from hospital and is recuperating at home.
The young Harps player suffered a serious head injury while playing for his Finn Harps side two weeks ago.
The Keadue man was rushed to hospital and then transferred to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital for treatment.
Finn Harps released a statement today:
“The injuries sustained were substantial and will take time to heal. He has seen consultants in both Derry and Letterkenny and they are happy with his improvement. Adam’s positive mindset will be a great asset as he continues on the road to recovery.
“He wanted us to thank the football family who have shown so much love and support over the past few weeks on behalf of himself and his family.”
A GoFundMe campaign for Adam hit the €30,000 mark, two days after it was launched.
Parents of his Finn Harps teammates came together to set up a Go Fund Me page to help support Adam and his family through this very challenging time.
While they have raised €30,000 in just two days, they have stressed there is a long road ahead.
