The 2020 Owen McDaid (Roe) Mini-Bus & Taxi Hire Winter League winners and runners-up were presented with their awards last week.
Cormac Doherty and Craig Doherty were the winners, pictured on the right of Club captain Pius McFadden. On the left are the runners-up, Francis McGrory and Pauric O’Flaherty.
The semi-finals of the 2021 Winter League took place last weekend and Damien Doherty & Jonny Morrison beat Cormac Doherty & Leo Sheehy. In the other semi-final Oliver Doherty & Eugene Gillespie beat Michael King & Jamie Friel. The final will take place over the Holiday period and the big hitting Oliver Doherty along with his partner Eugene Gillespie should go into the final as strong favourites.
However the ever consistent Damien Doherty and Jonny Morrison will be a formidable match for any pairing and it promises to be a very competitive final. The format for the match play will be 2 ball scramble with 1/5 of the
combined handicap between the pairings.
The competition last weekend was an 18 Hole Stableford Sweep and with the greens in excellent condition it gave the competitors an opportunity to return some great scores.
The best score over the two days was 45pts returned by Henry Mc Daid (22), this was a much welcome return to form for Henry who played some tremendous golf over the front 9 to shoot 25pts and added another respectable 20pts over the back 9 to amass his winning total of 45pts. In second place with 42pts on a break of a tie was novice John Bradley (36) who only acquired his handicap recently and will be hoping this is the first of many podium finishes.
Christmas Open Times
The clubhouse will close Friday 24th @ 11:45 a.m. sharp and remain closed for Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th December. Any members wishing to golf during this period would need to make arrangements to have their clubs removed from their
lockers.
