There was a premature and somewhat disturbing end to today’s U21 county hurling final when a Setanta player became unwell.

Donegal U-21HC County Final
Setanta 1-5
St Eunan’s 0-6 (Match abandoned at half-time)
Referee, Trevor Moloney, abandoned the match in Hibernian Park, Burt, at half-time.
The Finn Valley side’s star forward had been having an outstanding game for his team, and had scored 1-3, when he appeared to go to the ground.
The young man was unable to get up and was attended to by officials and medical personnel before being helped to the sideline.
He remained there for about 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived.
The game was held up for about half an hour before a large crowd.
Referee Moloney called off the game in the circumstances, before the player was taken to hospital.
And it was generally held that this was the correct thing given the situation.
It is unclear when this county final will be replayed.
But it looks like it will be re-fixed for early in the New Year
