Drunk man with no mask in LIDL ordered to make donation

December 14, 2021

A man who refused to wear a facemask and was drunk at 11.05am in the Ballybofey branch of LIDL has been ordered to make a donation of €250 to charity.

Robert Gasior appeared at Letterkenny District Court following an incident at the store on November 3rd last.

The court was told that Gasior, aged 44, refused to wear a mask and was abusive to staff.

Gardai were called and Gasior also began to abuse them.

He was arrested and charged with a breach of the peace.

Gasior has no previous convictions.

His solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher told the court that his client, of Lawnsdale, Ballybofey, was very apologetic for what had happened.

He said his client did eventually put on a mask but that he had had words with another person and the disagreement went “over and back.”

Judge Raymond Finnegan ordered Gasior to make a donation of €250 to Letterkenny Boxing Club and adjourned the case until February 21st.
