Courts hopeful of appointing new Judge for District 1 soon

December 10, 2021

A replacement Judge for outgoing Judge Raymond Finnegan is set to be appointed soon.

Judge Finnegan leaves his post in District 1 based out of Letterkenny Courthouse early in the New Year.

The Meath man only took up his position in September.

However, he has since been transferred to the Cavan/Monaghan District.

Judge Finnegan said he was aware that President of the District Court, Judge Paul Kelly, is actively seeking to appoint a new Judge to Donegal’s District One as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Judge Sandra Murphy has been appointed to District 2 which covers Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.

She replaces retiring Judge Kevin Kilrane.
