Donegal communities are once again rallying to the call of Brother Kevin, a Capuchin brother who has dedicated his life to helping the homeless.
In recent years the communities of Creeslough and Dunfanaghy and further afield have helped gather supplies for those less well-off at Christmas.
Brother Kevin has often visited the Friary at Ards and other local areas to thank locals for their support.
A message of behalf of Brother Kevin was sent out this week by Fr John Joe Duffy.
In the message Brother Kevin expressed his deepest gratitude for the steadfast support all through the years.
“He reminds us that everyone is aware, the housing/homeless crisis is getting worse and it is hard to see any realistic improvement for the people who are suffering unprecedented hardship.
“We Capuchins are astounded at the level of kindness shown by our supporters. Despite the increased number of people needing our help, we did not have to cut services and no one went away from the Centre without food aid.
“The sheer goodness of people is evidenced every day here in the Centre by the efforts of people from all walks of life, young and old, who make personal sacrifices to support us.
Thank you for your kindness, God bless, Bro. Kevin”
People are being asked you to leave items for the collection that we will send to Brother Kevin in the back of the St. Michael’s Church Creeslough or Holy Cross Church, Dunfanaghy by Sunday 12th December.
“We are mindful of how difficult these times are many people and appreciate any little bit of help only if it us possible. Even €1 or a tin of beans is a great help. Donations can be left with Fr Doohan or Fr Duffy or sent directly to Brother Kevin.”
