Gweedore Celtic 1 v 1 St. Catherines
In wintry conditions and gale force winds, both teams served up an entertaining ninety minutes of football
and in the end a draw was probably a fair result. League leaders St. Catherines were faster out of the
blocks and put the home team on the back foot early on but gradually Gweedore, playing with the aid of
the breeze, began to get a foothold on the game and Tommy Diver tested the keeper Kevin Martin with
some long-range efforts. Martin kept Diver's free-kick from thirty yards from entering the net but he could
only watch as Diver opened the scoring in the fortieth minute with a spectacular long range effort. St.
Catherines almost equalised before the break when Darragh Murrin's effort was well saved by Michael Mc
Kelvey. The second half was dominated by the away team but they found a Gweedore defence well
marshalled by Colin Mc Nicholls and John Paul Gallagher in no mood to be broken. St. Catherines scored in
the sixtieth minute when Conor Doherty struck from twenty yards to beat Mc Kelvey in the Gweedore goal.
Despite all their possession the away team were unable to get that important second goal although Kyle
Mc Geoghan, the best player on the field, came closest in injury time when his mazy run and shot was
blocked by Mc Nicholls to earn the home team a share of the points. Gweedore's best were Aidan
Breathnach and John Paul Gallagher whilst St.Catherines were well served by keeper Martin, Christopher
Murrin and the very impressive Kyle Mc Geoghan.

Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Cranford United Reserves 1 v 2 Copany Rovers
This game started with both teams having chances but it was Cranford who took the lead through a Dylan
Mc Bride free-kick. It was tight up until five minutes before half time where Copany got their equaliser.
Copany started the brighter after half-time and got their second goal after a mistake in the Cranford
defence. It was all Cranford until the final whistle, coming close on many occasions with Dylan Mc Bride
hitting the post.
Drumbar F.C. 3 v 0 Castlefin Celtic Reserves
The opening exchanges were even as Drumbar played host to Castlefin. As the game grew older Drumbar
took hold of a dominant grasp and midway through the first half took the lead when Vinny Breslin linked
well with Josh Mc Crea on the left for Mc Crea to cross to Robbie Murphy at the back post to find the net.
It was soon 2-0 when Adam Gillespie broke well down the right to reach the by-line to deliver a low cross
in to the feet of Breslin to fire home. In the second half, the game seemed to lose its heartbeat and
Castlefin were unlucky not to pull one back after an effort hit the top side of the crossbar. Drumbar
eventually managed to put the game beyond doubt when Vinny Breslin's effort ended up at the feet of
Robbie Murphy to fire home and make it 3-0 to Drumbar who ran out overall deserving winners to extend
their unbeaten league run to six games.
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 4 v 3 Ballybofey United Reserves
Drumoghill stared well and had several good chances before Gareth Temple headed home midway
through the half. Ballybofey equalised against the run of play with an own goal from a corner however
Drumoghill went ahead again when Odhran Donnelly scored straight from a corner to go in ahead at the
break. Drumoghill were on top again in the second half and got the third from the penalty spot from
Gareth Temple. Evan Bonner added a fourth to put Drumoghill in command. Ballybofey rallied late on with
a Vinnie Toye own goal giving them hope and they added a second minutes later to set up a hectic last few
minutes. Jay Wosser was the hero for Drumoghill late on, making a fantastic save in the last minute to give
Drumoghill all three points. Referee: Zack Mc Laughlin
Dunlewey Celtic 4 v 2 St. Catherines Reserves
Blustery conditions at Glentornan Park for this six-goal thriller between these two sides battling at the top
end of the Old Orchard Saturday Division 2. Dunlewey started the game with the wind at their back and
immediately went on the attack. Dunlewey were awarded a penalty on ten minutes when Keith Sweeney
was brought down in the area. Sweeney stepped up to slot the ball home and put the hosts one up.
Dunlewey continued to attack and were rewarded for their attacking play when Joseph Devenney was
brought down to win Dunlewey another spot-kick. Keith Sweeney stepped up again and slotted home for
his second goal. Dunlewey had another few chances in the game but could not capitalise and St. Catherines
began to string a few attacks together and were awarded a penalty of their own which was put away
neatly by James Callan. St. Catherines continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when they
broke through one on one with the keeper to bring the scores level through Calvin Mooney. Keith Sweeney
completed his hat-trick just before the break to put Dunlewey 3-2 up for half time. Dunlewey secured the
win when they got their fourth when St. Catherines conceded an own goal. Dunlewey held on and kept the
three points in Glentornan Park to keep Dunlewey in the title chase.

Glencar Celtic 2 v 1 Moville F.C.
Glencar Celtic faced Moville Celtic in a very blustery Rathmullan and it was Glencar who controlled most of
the possession in the first half in which they found it hard to breakdown a well organised Moville team.
Moville struck first from the penalty spot after a mix-up in the Glencar box. Glencar never panicked and
found the equaliser just before halftime when Ciaran Maloney got on the end of a Shane Hilley cross to
head beyond the keeper. The second half started much the same with Glencar creating numerous chances
without hitting the net but they did go ahead with 25 minutes to go through a good hit from Shane Hilley
and that’s how the game finished. Good team performances from both sides.

Donegal Town 2 v 0 Glenea united
Glenea made the long journey to the Hospital Field and could have been one up through Mc Geever only
for keeper Mulreany getting down smartly. Donegal quickly counter attacked and keeper Coll made a fine
save to keep it scoreless. Donegal took the lead on the stroke of half time through Stephen Graham who
reacted quickest to stab home after great skill by Joe Mc Intyre. Glenea started stronger in the second half
and Mc Geever again was causing all sorts of problems through his strong running but it was Donegal who
doubled their lead after great work by Calum Gallagher and Joe Mc Intyre to tee it up for Stephen Graham.
Good team performance from Glenea with Coll and Mc Geever prominent. Mc Kenna, Slevin, Calum
Gallagher and Joe Mc Intyre were excellent for the Town. Referee: Mick Lagan.
Keadue Rovers 4 v 0 Drumkeen United
On a fine day for football Keadue had most of the chances in the first half. Due to good goalkeeping from
Drumkeen and near misses from Keadue the score was 0-0 at half time.
Play was delayed for some time during the first half due to an injury to Sean Doherty of Drumkeen. Keadue
wishes him a speedy recovery. The second half started with Keadue on top again and they finally made the
break through around the 60th minute when Mark Forker scored from a brilliant chip from the edge of the
box. Around the 70th minute Keadue were 2-0 up when Jay Doherty scored from a rebound. Around the
80th minute Barry Curran scored the third goal for Keadue with a neat finish. The rest of the game was a
bit scrappy apart from a very good passing move that led to Keadue's fourth goal converted neatly by
Aaron Mc Cafferty. Full time 4-0 to Keadue. Good performance by both teams on a fine day for football.

Ballybofey United 3 v 0 Drumoghill F.C.
Ballybofey gave their season a jolt when they hosted Drumoghill at Dreenan. It remained honours-even at
the interval with neither side able to take any chances that came their way. Five minutes into the second-
half Jude Patton put Ballybofey into the lead. Tortured with niggly injuries recently, Ballybofey have missed
his goals but hopefully he will now get back to the type of form that he is very capable of. Drumoghill were
always loitering and ever likely to claim a share of the spoils as the game entered the closing stages. Karlos
Reukl settled the United nerves however with two late goals, another man who Ballybofey will need as
they try to kick-start their season. Great to see some new young lads breaking into the Sunday League side
at Dreenan.
Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 3 v 1 Cranford United
Another derby day in Kerrykeel with Cranford making the short trip across the bay. Kerrykeel dominated
from the start and took an early lead when Bernard Mc Gettigan crossed for Paddy Carr to head home into
the top corner. Kerrykeel had Cranford pushed right back and had further chances fall to Johnny Nanny,
wee Sparky Mc Ateer and Marty Mc Ateer but they couldn’t break down the Cranford defence led by
Seami Carr. Kerrykeel made it two on the stroke of half time when Paddy Heraghty headed home from a
superb Sparky Mc Ateer corner. Kerrykeel wrapped up the points on 80 minutes when young Mc Ateer
tapped home after great work from Darren Mc Elwaine in the middle. To be fair to Cranford they never
stopped and scored a screamer. Oisin Purdy fired a half volley into the top corner leaving Eoin Mc Gonigle
with no chance in the Kerrykeel goal. The same player then rattled the Kerrykeel crossbar moments later
with a great strike from the edge of the box. The game finished 3-1. Get well soon to club legend John Joe
Mc Ateer from all at the ‘71. Best for Kerrykeel: Seami Nanny, Bernard Mc Gettigan and Mark Sparky Friel.
Team performance from Cranford.
Rathmullan Celtic 1 v 0 Raphoe Town
The Seasiders edged out a battling Raphoe Town at the Flagpole Field courtesy of a thunderbolt from
James Gallagher early in the second period. Eamonn Sheridan's side were perhaps unfortunate to go in
level at the break as Kieran Gorman's header was chalked off on the stroke of the interval by referee
Gerard Devine, while Raphoe will feel they might well have rescued a point late in the day as they applied
the pressure when the home side were reduced to 10 men. After a first league defeat of the season in
Drumoghill last Sunday, Rathmullan were eager to get back on the winning trail and it showed as they
bossed possession in the opening half. Decent chances were hard to come by however and it looked set to
go in at a stalemate until Gorman nodded home from a corner in stoppage time. The referee however
pointed to an infringement on the Raphoe goalkeeper and ruled the effort out. Rathmullan started the
second half purposefully and they were rewarded in some style on 50 minutes. Alan Boal fed Eamonn
Sheridan on the edge of the 18-yard box and the Hoops player/boss laid the ball into space where full-
back Gallagher was on hand to lash a swirling shot that flew across in the top corner to put the hosts in
front. Chances came and went for Jay Curran and Sheridan as Rathmullan looked to solidify their
advantage, while Dara Patton came closest to managing just that when his low curling shot was palmed to
safety via an agile stop from the Raphoe netminder. The visiting side came into the game more as it wore
on and they were already beginning to push Rathmullan backwards when Kevin Doran was ordered off for
a second yellow with five minutes to play. From that free-kick and another late corner, Raphoe just missed
out on grabbing a vital touch that could have levelled matters, while Shaun Gallagher in the Hoops goal
was there to stop former Rathmullan frontman Ryan Mc Cullagh from getting the equaliser when he did
get on the end of a cross. All in all, a hard working win for the home side who edged the contest in terms
of chances created and, crucially, that one goal scored in sensation fashion. Referee: Gerard Devine

Letterkenny Rovers 2 v 1 Letterbarrow Celtic
Both sides started the game well and Letterbarrow created the first shot which resulted in a great
save by Rovers keeper Blake Forkan. Both sides cancelled each other out and on 35 minutes a
Caolán Mc Connell cross found David O' Donnell in the box who failed to hit the target.
Just before half time Letterbarrow hit the post from a fine strike from 25 yards. Letterkenny Rovers
were awarded a penalty on 60 minutes after Patrik Gahir was fouled in the area, Nathan Plumb
slotted the penalty home. On 71 minutes, excellent work by Kealan Dunleavy on the right side
helped set up Plumb who slotted in his second with a side foot finish. On 78 minutes Rovers were
awarded another penalty, this time for handball but Plumb hit the post and Letterbarrow cleared.
In the 91st minute Letterbarrow pulled a goal back through Daniel Meehan who found himself
unmarked in the box to head home. Rovers hung on to see the game out in a tough battle.

Lagan Harps 2 v 3 Redcastle F.C.
A strong second half performance from Redcastle saw them through to the next round. Lagan took an early
lead when Ronan Carlin fired home from a narrow angle on seven minutes. Damien Nelis then headed just
wide for Lagan and Redcastle 's Sean Curran forced a save from Frank Carberry, Ronan Hoy also went
close while Ross Hamlyn passed up an opportunity for Lagan. Redcastle scored straight away at the start of
the second half with Drew Mc Kinney finishing well. Lagan regained the lead on fifty two minutes when
they were awarded a penalty, Ross Hamlyn converting. Ronan Hoy equalised two minutes later when he
lobbed the keeper from wide on the right. Redcastle began to take control and Lagan keeper Frank
Carberry pulled off a couple of good stops in quick succession. However, Redcastle swooped on a poor
pass outside the Lagan area and Stephen Grant finished well. The game was end to end for the last twenty
minutes without any further score. Ryan Kildea shooting just wide for Lagan late on and Redcastle
surviving a couple of scrambles. Lagan’s best were Ryan Kildea and Conor Crossan with Ronan Hoy and
Darragh Mc Conway best for Redcastle. Referee: George Clinton.
