Met Éireann has said parts of the country including Donegal could see some showers of sleet or snow later this week.
Temperatures are expected to drop towards the freezing tonight (Wed), with a lowest temperature of -1C forecast on Thursday.
Friday will be cold with some showers possibly turning to sleet in the evening with snow expected to cover the hills in parts of Donegal.
Snow is not expected to fall at lower levels.
Some showers of sleet or snow are likely over the north and west, with lowest temperatures of 0C to 4C.
Sleet and snow remains possible over high ground in the north continuing into Saturday, while that night will be near freezing or slightly below.
However, indications are it will be milder heading into next week.
