The Buncrana Golf Club winners of the Non Qualifiers in the 2020 Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Taxi & Mini Bus Hire Winter League were presented with their awards this past week.
The winners were Garreth Porter and Keenan Doherty who were presented with their awards by Club Captain Pius McFadden and competition sponsor Owen McDaid. The presentation was only sorted recently despite being for last years competition.
There was also an award presented to Eileen McLaughlin. The Presentation of Honorary Membership to long serving Lady member Eileen was in recognition of her loyal service & unwavering support to the club over the years.

Winter League
With all the qualifying done and dusted the draw was made for the first round of the match play stages and the details are as follows; Shane Devlin & Jonathan Doherty v John P. Mc Connell & Liam Lynch, Niall Crossan & David McMenamin v Oliver Doherty & Eugene Gillespie, Brian Bradley & Evan Doherty v Mickey Mc Hugh & Stephen King, Kieran Mc Eleney & Shane Glackin v Michael King & Jamie Friel, Damien Doherty & Jonny Morrison v Kevin McGrath & Liam Doherty, Paul Eccles & Kevin Mc Dermott v Eamon Doherty & Carlo Mc Laughlin, Cormac Doherty & Leo Sheehy v Paul McDaid & Kevin Tracey and Hugh Doherty & Tony Mc Sherry v Garreth Porter & Keenan Doherty. The format for the match play will be 2 ball scramble with 1/5 of the combined handicap and then half the difference between the pairings. All matches have to be play on or before Sunday 28th November without exception and the committees decision will be final.
Result of the 18 Stableford Sweep
There was an 18 hole stableford sweep played last weekend and even with the drop in temperatures the competitors managed to return some good scoring over the two days. The winning score was returned by Liam Henderson (22) who had a much welcome return to form to shot a very impressive 41 pts. The full results of the Stableford Scramble are as follows: 1st Liam Henderson (22) 41pts, 2nd Martin McCallion (18) 40pts, Gross Oliver Doherty (4) 71 gross, 3rd Mark Monaghan (12) 38pts, Best Day Darren McFadden (19) 36pts and Back 9 Gerry Vaughan (22) 20pts b.o.t.
9 Hole Competitions
The 9 hole 20’s competitions winner to date are as follows, Category 0-11 – Liam O’ Donnell (11) 23pts, Category 12-19 – Cormac Doherty (19) 24pts b.o.t. & Category 20+ Anthony Coyle (23) 26pts.
The 9 hole 20’s competition will be running continuously and it’s a great way to keep your golf competitive during the winter period and helps to keep your game focused. The entry fee is €3.00 and re-entry is also €3.00. In order for this
format to operate successfully it will be imperative that players do not disclose their scores and any scores disclosed before the competition closes will definitely result in that player and their score being disqualified.

Hamper Qualifying
The qualifying for the Christmas Hamper has started with 0-7 handicaps needing 20pts
and 8+ handicaps needing 21pts over the 9 holes to qualify.
Membership
There are only a few places left for the new membership deal and the details are as follows; Male €440.00, Lady €282.00, Youth (18-23) €225.00, Complete Beginner Male €290.00 and Lady €220.00. This membership will start from now 2021 and run until March 1st 2023 and there is no hidden charge with all Golf Ireland and Insurance fees included.
