Last Saturday, Bluestack Special Needs Foundation representatives, met with Déjà Vu Motorsport organisers, representing the Stables Motorsport Centre, to present a cheque after the event on Sunday 24th October.
For those that missed the event on Sunday the 24th of October, rally legends and 80 historic rally cars descend on Donegal Town as part of Déjà vu Donagh Day organised by Déjà Vu motorsport’s Beatty Crawford and Alan “Plum” Tyndall.
It was a sight to behold for anyone with the slightest interest in rally or cars and Donegal definitely has a love for all things rally, Alan made a comment that people in Donegal live to rally.
This event came about after Beatty and Alan visited Donagh’s Stables Motorsport Centre in Frosses and felt that they should organise one of their Déjà vu events to gather those that no longer rally but are still are passionate about the sport to meet, see Donagh’s fabulous rally museum and benefit a local charity by donating the proceeds of the event to them.
Donagh suggested to Beatty and Alan that the Bluestack Special Need Foundation in Donegal Town should be the events charity. The Bluestack Special Needs Foundation is a charity that works with children and young adults with additional needs and their families throughout county Donegal by provided a range of supports, services and most importantly
a listening ear.
The Déjà vu Donagh day seen crowds gather to see racing legends such as Paddy Hopkirk lead the parade of 80 cars from the quay carpark in town after Bluestack member Ryan McCaffrey waved a Donegal Flag to start the event. Several staff and volunteers from the Bluestack Foundation spent the morning doing a bucket collection which raised an incredible €4,651.40.
After the parade of cars left the quay car park lead by Paddy Hopkirk in a Mini Cooper S identical to the one he won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, they went out towards Clar and the Lough Eske Stage where Paddy had the biggest accident of his career, going through the Bluestack Mountains to arrive at Donagh’s Stables Motorsport Centre.
At the Stables Motorsport Centre the entrants got to tour the museum, have a 2 course lunch in the marquee and bid on some wonderful auction items such as private tours of Aston Martin’s HQ & Prodrive, a private tour of Tuthill Porsche, a private tour of the Stables Motorsport Centre with chauffeur driven laps of the track in the Can-Am and Race Buggy with lunch and a helicopter trip over Donegal and several Esler Crawford photos.
This incredibly successful event seen a total of €16,000 raised for the Bluestack Special Needs Foundation from the proceeds of the Déjà vu Donagh Day event, auction and bucket collection. We would like to thank everyone involved in the event and those that donated and bid at the auction for their generosity, this money will help the Buestack Special Needs foundation to continue to make a real difference to the lives of our members and their families throughout Donegal.
