AN Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, is among the big hitters confirmed for this year’s MacGill Summer School.
The 41st annual speaking event, however, will take place in an online format due to uncertainties over the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event, which is held annually in Glenties to discuss topical issues of the day, will run from October 27-29.
The title of next month’s schools is ‘A Threatened Planet – Recovery from the pandemic must be built on new values and a new vision.’
Other noted speakers include Dr. Mike Ryan, World Health Organisation Executive Director, Former Tánaiste Mary Harney, ex British Labour politician David Miliband and Fergal Keane, BBC Foreign Correspondent.
Dubbed ‘Electric Picnic for older people’, the event was founded in Glenties in 1981 to celebrate the life and work of the author, Patrick MacGill, will keep its links with Donegal by including snapshots of the county’s rich cultural life, the organisers said.
