BUNDORAN have lodged an objection to the Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) over their 2021 SFC defeat by Ardara on Sunday.
Ardara won the game at Pearse Memorial Park 1-10 to 2-6, Stefan Boyle’s goal proving vital for the victors.
Bundoran have queried the possibility that Ardara used six substitutions, one more than the permitted five, during the game.
The Bundoran club have sought the relevant documentation from the game.
The situation is similar to the controversy that has dogged the still-to-be-decided 2020 Donegal SFC final between Naomh Conaill and Kilcar.
The Kilcar club lodged an appeal against Naomh Conaill fielding four substitutes – one more than the permitted three – during extra time in the August 14 final, which Naomh Conaill won 4-2 on penalties.
The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee ruled that Naomh Conaill were in breach of regulation and ordered a replay.
However, the saga took a further twist when the Ulster Hearings Committee, following an appeal by Naomh Conaill, ruled that a rule was infringed in relation to video evidence.
The appeals process over that game now has to re-start with the Donegal CCC set to re-hear Kilcar’s objection.
