Donegal Camino trekkers are putting their feet up for a well-earned rest today after completing a unique trek in aid of Cancer Care West.
The eight day charity walk traversed the entire county to finish at Slieve League yesterday.
The walk was inspired by Carndonagh native Peggy Stringer, who often walks parts of the Camino in Spain, but took on her own alternative Camino at home last year.
This year, she teamed up with her good friends and Donegal ambassadors Noel Cunningham and Deirdre Mc Glone to organise a group walk across some of the most beautiful settings in the county.
It was an unforgettable journey for walkers who joined either sections of the walk or all of it. The group conquered the kilometres by day and enjoyed Donegal’s famous hospitality by night at a variety of special stays.
From Malin Head to Glencolmcille, the tour visited ‘spiritual, gorgeous and magical’ places, as described by Noel Cunningham. Photos of stunning locations were shared around the world on social media.
There were celebrity guests, fine food, and great craic, and it was all in aid of an important local cause.
