Construction work is expected to be concluded in the New Year on a multi-million euro new school for St Mary’s NS in Stranorlar.

Builders have been on the ground since July last year on the 24-classroom primary education facility.

Alongside the mainstream classrooms, the new building will provide for a PE Hall and a suite of resource rooms.

The current St Mary’s (Scoil Mhuire) building at Main St, Stranorlar.

The five acre site will also allow for further expansion in enrolment up to 700 pupils in the years ahead.

Boyle Construction Ltd won the tender for the project which is expected to be completed in January, with the first students expected through its doors before the school breaks for the 2022 summer holidays.

The building has been designed with a very high energy performance.

When construction started, a spokesperson for the school commented: “A momentous day for the whole school community, and one that many people have waited a long time to see. Onwards and upwards!”
