Saint Joseph’s Community Hospital in Stranorlar is dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19 at one of its wards, Donegal Daily has learned.
While a spokesperson for the HSE declined to comment, it is understood that around five older patients are affected, as well as a number of staff members.
An outbreak in a healthcare setting is called when there are two or more positive contacts.
A source told us that the outbreak, which occurred at the end of last week, is now ‘under control.’
All staff members were tested last Friday.
When contacted today, a spokesperson for the HSE said it is unable to comment on individual cases or outbreaks of Covid-19.
“All outbreaks of Covid-19 are notified to the Department of Public Health Medicine and are investigated and managed in accordance with Public Health and Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines,” they said.
“All efforts are made to ensure the safety of our Patients/Clients and staff remains paramount at all times.”
