JORDAN Furey claimed the Clan Wards super-lightweight championship title on Sunday.
The Letterkenny man stopped Aaron McDonald in the first round of their 165lb title fight.
The fight brought together two unbeaten fighters, Furey boasting a 3-0 record and McDonald holding an unblemished 4-0 card going into the bout.
It was Furey who extended his unbeaten strike.
Two minutes and 52 seconds into the opening round, Furey stopped McDonald via strikes as referee Aaron Wallace called a halt.
The 21-year-old Furey fights out of the Straight Blast Gym, made famous by Conor McGregor and coach John Kavanagh.
Sunday’s Clan Wars 41 show was held before a sold-out arena at the Jim Baker Stadium in County Antrim.
In June, at Clan Wars 40, Furey overcame Jess Paulo when the referee called a halt just shy of three minutes into their bout.
Furey’s debut came in early 2018 when he defeated Morgan Boyd, following up with a December, 2018 win against Cathal O’Donnell.
