Donegal County Council is being encouraged to advance with mapping the locations of defibrillators across the county.
A virtual map is being sought for the public to know where the nearest device is in the case of an emergency.
The idea was raised at this month’s meeting of Donegal County Council, at which Cllr Gary Doherty proposed that the council creates a list of defibrillator locations to be shared on social media. Cllr Doherty said that a list could be easily downloadable and maximise awareness of the defibrillators fundraised for and bought by community, sporting and voluntary groups throughout Donegal.
“If this is done i think that we can save lives,” added Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher.
Councillors heard this week that the council is at an advanced stage of identifying and mapping defibrillator locations in support of community groups.
