People have been urged to take greater care during the warm weather after a person in Inishowen was hospitalised with suspected sun stroke.
Buncrana Roads Policing Unit attended Buncrana Pier yesterday after receiving a report of a person who appeared to be in need of medical attention.
An ambulance was contacted as the person concerned was displaying signs of suspected heat stroke.
“Please be careful while temperatures remain high. Wear sun cream and seek shelter during peak sunshine hours. Stay hydrated by drinking water,” a spokesperson for Buncrana Garda Station said.
While at the Pier, Gardaí also gathered a lot of rubbish that had been discarded around there over the course of the day.
“Please take all rubbish home with you or take it to the nearest bin when your visit is over. Leave no trace of your visit,” the spokesperson added.
Gardaí continue to urge people not to gather in groups and to practise social distancing. Avoid crowded areas. Covid-19 has not yet gone away.
