The volunteer Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) is urging members of the public to take precautions before taking to the hills during the current hot spell.
“As we enter into what is to be another stunning weekend, just a gentle reminder to make sure and bring plenty of water and sunscreen with you if you are out and about in our wonderful countryside,” a DMRT spokesperson said.
“As always, keep an eye on the weather, plan your journeys and make sure to let someone know where you’re off to and when you’ll be back.”
DMRT provides an emergency response, remote environment and extreme terrain search and rescue service for the County of Donegal. The team is comprised completely of volunteers who are on 24 hour call, 365 days of the year.
The team is tasked by An Garda Síochána, so if there is an emergency please call 112 or 999 directly. This is to ensure an appropriate coordinated response.
