A MAN who admitted ownership of a consignment of cannabis found scattered over the the back seat of a car is ‘on a collision course with is own future’.
On August 14, 2020, Gardai stopped a vehicle which was driving erratically at The Bower, Killygordon.
Garda O’Keefe spoked to the rear seat passenger and detected a small of cannabis.
A quantity of cannabis, later valued at €350, was found ‘all over the back seat’, Sergeant Gerard Dalton told Letterkenny District Court.
Jordan McClean (24) of Fairgreen Hill, Letterkenny, admitted ownership of the cannabis, saying it was for his own personal use.
McClean has a number of previous conviction, including one for the possession of drugs for the purpose of sale or supply, using threatening and abusive behaviour as well as some public order and road traffic matters.
“All this at the tender age of 24,” solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian said.
“This is a young man who is almost a demonstration of the difficulty of drugs. Almost all of his difficulties arise from a misuse of substances. He has had a lot of difficulties, albeit self-inflicted.
“He is on a collision course with his own future, but he is perfectly lucid and coherent as he appears in court.”
Judge Deirdre Gearty adjourned the case until November 22, 2021 for the preparation of a Probation and Welfare report.
