A NEW mural depicting the former woollen mill is nearing completion in the village of Convoy.
The mural is being painted by local artist Marty McDaid.
The protect was undertaken by the Convoy Community and Environmental Committee.
“We wanted to commemorate the old woollen mill in the town as it is an important landmark in the town and holds a lot of memories to the older generation in the town,” a spokesperson said.
The mural is based on a plaque showcasing the mill in its heyday.
The first woollen mill in Convoy dates back to the 1880s when the village was known for the growing of flax and weaving was carried out on site.
Convoy Woolen Mill closed in the 1980s and the site is now host to some local businesses, who are based in the building.
