There have been no confirmed reports of mica affected houses in south Donegal.
That was the reassuring comment from Donegal County Council’s Area Manager for Housing in the Donegal Municipal District (MD), Mr Pauric Sheerin.
A number of councillors had raised the issue at this morning’s Donegal MD meeting.
Cllr Niamh Kennedy said she had heard ‘rumours’ of the presence of mica from a number of householders.
Mr Sheerin said he had received two calls from private home owners who believed their homes were affected.
“I gave them advice in relation to the centralised mica redress process in Lifford,” he explained.
“Thankfully, at this point in time, Mica is not an issue in this district. But that’s not a definite. However, if councillors have any concerns, they can pass them on to me.”
Mr Sheerin also confirmed the received a number of calls from people who were living in social housing who had concerns that their homes were affected.
