Today is a momentous day for Naomh Padraig GAA club in Lifford as they will play their first adult game on their newly refurbished pitch and dressing rooms.
“This is the day we have all been waiting for,” a club spokesperson said.
“All the hard work and dedication has paid off, what originally was a vision is now reality for our club. It’s been a long road but well worth taking when you sit back and look at what we have achieved. A big thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors that helped make this happen.”
Local Sinn Fein Councillor, Gary Doherty, today is a very special day for everybody involved with the club and the community in Lifford.
“After a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment they are today playing their first adult match on the new pitch, together with the brand new clubhouse,” Cllr Doherty said.
“A massive congratulations to the club and to the small number of volunteers who worked tirelessly to raise funds to make their dreams a reality. I was fortunate to be able to assist in a small way, and I know the effort that was required to get this work done. This should be a very proud day for the gaels of Lifford.”
Naomh Padraig Leifear take on their namesake Naomh Padraig Muff with the throw-in for the senior game at 3pm, while the reserves take to the new field at 4.30pm.
