The R118 Coastguard helicopter was involved in a dramatic rescue on an Inishowen mountain on Tuesday evening after a pensioner fell off a quad bike.
The incident occurred at Scalp Mountain, a remote area between Burnfoot and Muff.
The Sligo-based helicopter was tasked due to the inaccessible location of the accident.
Along with National Ambulance Service (NAS) personnel and Greencastle Coast Guard, Rescue 118 deployed their winchman and SAR stretcher to help the 75-year-old man.
“After treating and securing the casualty, we recovered ambulance service personnel and then our winchman and casualty for follow-up treatment and transfer to Letterkenny hospital,” a spokesperson for the Coast Guard said.
Soon after this, the helicopter was re-tasked to Tory Island for a medivac.
“This was promptly carried out as we are always equipped for any emergency. The patient was transferred to Letterkenny hospital for the second time.”
