THERE is anger as a large volume of people in South Inishowen have been left without water for the second day running.
A burst pipe has led to a loss of supply in the Inch area.
An engineer has confirmed that water has been turned off until work can begin in the morning. It is expected that it will be 2pm tomorrow before residents will have water supply.
The Mayor of Donegal and Sinn Féin Councillor Jack Murray has called the situation ‘unacceptable’.
“For the second day in a row, the people of Inch Island and Magherabeg are without water,” Cllr Murray told Donegal Daily.
“In isolation that would be a significant inconvenience but when counted among the regular and frequent outages the people of that community are forced to put up with, it is completely unacceptable.
“Those people are quite rightly asking why there hasn’t been proper investment to prevent this from happening so often. They’re asking why they can’t be entitled to a consistent water supply like everyone else.
“It’s now long past time that proper investment was directed to permanently address this problem. Irish Water need to prioritise that as a matter of urgency”
