The search is on for a brave volunteer from Donegal to shave their head for charity.
A National Head Shave is being held this autumn by Westmeath woman Ally Byrne, who is aiming to find an individual to represent each county in Ireland and support five important causes.
Following her husband’s cancer diagnosis in April, Ally decided to use her energy to raise awareness and funds for charities affected by Covid, by hosting a ‘National Shave My Hair, Show We Care’ event this autumn.
Ally will spend the next three months raising awareness and money for her chosen charities, whilst doing so, hoping that like minded individuals will come forward to take part in a National Head Shave event this autumn. At present, just three weeks from starting this campaign Ally has secured a participant for Westmeath, Longford and one of her charities Clare’s Wish.
She has set a fundraising target of €60,000 for the charities: Myeloma Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research, Clares Wish, Childhood Cancer Foundation, Lauralynn Childrens Hospice and Irish Cancer Society.
Ally said, “I am asking people to donate whatever they can to help support charities working with people fighting to survive cancer, charities researching to find cures and better treatments for cancer and charities who support the families living with cancer in their homes and daily lives. Charities and the families they support need our support now more than ever”.
