A LETTERKENNY man kicked a wing mirror off a Garda patrol van after leaving court.
Seamus Treanor (35) of Burnside Park, Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, was before the latest sitting of Letterkenny District Court charged with criminal damage in relation to the incident on October 7, 2020.
Treanor was seen leaving court and kicking the wing mirror. Treanor was identified by the court security guard and the incident was also caught on CCTV.
Treanor was arrested and made full admissions.
“He obviously wasn’t happy with what happened in the court on the day,” said Judge Alan Mitchell.
Treanor was also before the court on a charge of unlawful possession of cannabis to the value of €40 on July 7, 2019 at Ballymacool, Letterkenny.
Treanor was seen acting ‘suspiciously and nervously’, said Sergeant Jim Collins. Treanor was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and he made admissions to Gardaí.
Solicitor for Treanor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client was a ‘very vulnerable man’.
The defendant has one previous conviction for possession of drugs and a number of convictions for theft, the court was told.
For possession of cannabis, Treanor was fined €100 and a destruction order made.
For the criminal damage to the Garda patrol fan, Judge Mitchell fined Treanor €400.
